Is a sleeping bag, a tent or RV roof, and thousands of stars overhead your idea of five-star accommodations? Good news—the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire is filled with opportunities for you to get away by getting back to nature at an array of State and private campsites. Most offer a range from rustic sites to hook-ups for water, electric, and more. Here are just a few, with detailed information—including rates and reservations—at the links:

Spacious Skies Seven Maples: Hancock, NH

Offering 125 campsites for a mix of RV’s, cabins, and tents, this is a wonderful option for families and groups. Included on the grounds are a pool, playground, gaming arcade, kayak rentals, a camp store and gathering hall, hiking and biking trails, and even a stocked trout pond! And did we mention that it’s dog friendly? There’s even a dog park! Everyone will be happy at Spacious Skies.

Ashuelot River Campground: Swanzey, NH

Covering 22 acres with 3,600 feet of riverfront along the Ashuelot, this campground with RV lots and rustic cabins gives you access to biking, canoeing & kayaking (they have rentals!), hiking trails including Mt. Monadnock, and it’s just a short drive to shopping, dining and entertainment in downtown Keene.

Monadnock State Park: Jaffrey, NH

This popular State park is situated in and around Mt. Monadnock, surrounded by thousands of acres of protected highlands, and easy access to mountain trails. You can choose from two campground options, Monadnock State Park Headquarters and Gilson Pond. Note that pets are not allowed in the park.

Sure,” you might be thinking, “this is all great information about my future camping plans in the Monadnock Region, but what does Mount Monadnock look like RIGHT NOW?” Thanks to this constantly updating webcam from Franklin Pierce University, you don’t have to wonder.
Now, back to the camping possibilities.

Swanzey Lake Camping Area: Swanzey, NH

Here you’ll find more than 100 sites for tent and trailer camping not far from the lakeshore. Watercraft are available for rent and there’s a camp store fully stocked with groceries, snacks, RV accessories, and supplies.

Woodmore Family Campground and RV Park: Rindge, NH

This family-owned, family-friendly park covers 23 acres along scenic Lake Contoocook in Rindge, NH. It’s close to a Rails to Trails path for walking or biking, boat rentals, a family room with arcade and wi-fi, a swimming pool, and a tournament-sized ball field for your own wiffle ball championship!

Shir-Roy Camping Area: Richmond, NH

50 acres of woodlands and a peaceful 42-acre pond (great for boating, fishing, and swimming) give you more than enough room for a quiet, relaxing getaway. The season is loaded with activities from Memorial Day to Columbus Day, including potlucks and ice cream socials, plus there’s a camp store, laundromat, rec hall, athletic field, playground, volleyball, nearby hiking trails, and more. Who’s up for some horseshoes?

Again, this just scratches the surface of the camping options available to you in the Monadnock Region. You may find the perfect spot at Forest Lake Camping Ground in Winchester, Hinsdale RV Resort and Campground , Fitzwilliam-based Laurel Lake Campgrounds or one of many other secluded spots. (If we listed them all we’d be here all day, and we’d rather be packing up for the camping trip.)
