The Apple Cider Donut – we can’t think of another donut where eating a couple in just a few minutes is totally acceptable (encouraged, even). They represent the best of farm inspired cooking – simple, fresh, locally made with local ingredients, and if you are really lucky, still warm.

Washburn’s Windy Hill Orchard: Greenville, NH

Local news station polled its viewers and, you heard it here first, Washburn’s has the best cider donuts in the state. They also have pumpkins, horse drawn hayrides, apple picking, farm animals, AND A CORN MAZE. It’s one of the most popular spots to get a fall fix on the eastern edge of the region.

Alyson’s Orchard: Walpole, NH

Alyson’s is just northwest of Keene, NH, making it THE spot in the western corner of the region to enjoy a quintessential fall day, and that includes their delicious cider donuts. They also have pumpkins, tractor drawn hay rides, a delicious BBQ menu, sunflowers, a petting zoo, and a playground, making a visit to Alyson’s a popular family tradition for those near and far.

Dublin General Store: Dublin, NH

The Dublin General store has some of the best cake and maple glazed donuts around and they sell out fast. Kill two birds with one stone and grab a delicious fresh sandwich for lunch (heck bring some meatballs home for dinner).

Harrisville General Store: Harrisville, NH

What’s great about eating a cider donut from the Harrisville General Store is that you can also order some of their insanely delicious kale salad and then it’s like the whole donut thing never even happened.

Sullivan County Store: Sullivan, NH

Newly reopened, much to the absolute joy of locals, the donuts here go fast (they often have cake donuts and possibly cider donuts in the fall).

Brewbakers: Keene, NH

Brewbakers has some of the best dang donuts in New England, especially their maple donut and their cinnamon cruller which have been known to be consumed in bulk right in our very office!

Farmers Markets: Throughout the Region

There are several farmers markets that sell seasonal produce, and during the fall it’s highly likely you’ll find some great cider donuts. For a complete list of farmers markets in the region, click here.
